The Basic Breakfast Sandwich

Another great breakfast idea is the sandwich.  Sometimes you just don’t have the time for a sit-down breakfast, and you need something that can be eaten on the run. In this case you need something that can be cooked quickly, grabbed, and doesn’t require the usual utensils. If it has a number of options, that’s great as well. In that case, this may be just what the doctor ordered.

The Basic Breakfast Sandwich
2 strips of bacon
1 Medium Egg
2 slices cheese
2 Slices of sourdough bread

Fry off the bacon in a pan at medium heat.

While the bacon Is frying, either unwrap the cheese and put on a slice of the sourdough, or cut two ¼” slices from a brick of cheese and lay them on the sourdough.

Once the bacon has been fried to your taste, fry the egg.

Butter the other slice of sourdough bread.

Put the bacon and the egg on the same slice of bread as the cheese. Put the buttered slice on top.

Pour the bacon grease into a can.

Put the sandwich in the pan, buttered side down.

Butter the bread on top.

After about two minutes, flip the sandwich.

After two more minutes, turn off the heat and eat.

Some basic options: The bacon can be replaced with pretty much any other meat, such as sausage patties or sliced ham. The sourdough slices can be replaced with bagels or muffins. Obviously the cheese should be whichever you prefer, and can be omitted completely.
